As the automation level of power grid operation being improved, the consolation of coordination control and management on power grid level has become the developing trend of the process of power production, of which the basement is coordination control system of a thermal power plant.The coordination system is a complicated and enormous control project, which brings great convenience for the control center and operation staff in the power plant. Aiming to guarantee a dependable and reasonable operation of the coordination and control center of a thermal power plant to meet the requirement of the development of the automation level of power plant, it is an imperative problem to be improved and solved how to reasonably and completely make use of the hardware and software of the control center and decrease the number of the operation accident of a power plant and its sets and release the operation intensity of an operation staff, and finally to ensure the power plant and its sets to operate more safely and dependably.Aiming at the above contents, The main function of the system includes a main control system, main control system of boiler, steam turbine main control and subsystems etc. This thesis stresses on the research of the design of hardware and software of the coordination and control system, on the foundation of which, it explores the control strategy and has designed a software configuration.control method of the coordination and control center of a thermal power plant and also has improved the dependability of the coordination and control center and has meet the operation requirement of a power grid. The client/server architecture is used in this system, The system uses WindowsNT/2000as the software developing platform. Database using EDPF-NT database configuration software, version ECBWV5.0, The use of distributed real-time database fou date storage and management, Datebase control algorithm using Visual Basic programming language,. With the help of Visio and other office softwares, data processing and configuration programming. Taking software project as leading thought,in the aspects of requirement analysis, software framework, physics framework, data basement design, module design, operation environment configuration, control strategy and so on, this thesis’s emphasis is to introduce the detailed operation process, system test and operation situation of the coordination and control center of a thermal power plant, and finally it concludes some problems to be improved and solved in the research and development of coordination and control system.
