At the present, China is undergoing a massive urbanization and the cities in China is also undergoing a renewal process of city construction.The boom of landmark architecture first appeared in the US, then spread to Europe, along with China’s urbanization process and the Olympic Games in Beijin g, Shanghai World Expo, the Asian Games in Guangzhou, and now it spreads rap idly in China. In the present, almost every city in China is cheerful to creat land marks, in order to realize the city marketing and communications.The city landmark architecture is delegate of the urban landscape, an importa nt part of the urban public building, the focus of the government, developers,publi c and is also the important content of the media reports. In the mass media repor ts, landmark architecture has become a hot word, which takes over the space and time of all kinds of media. In the development of the city landmarks, mass med ia stay closely with city landmarks and they encourage each other. On the one ha nd, mass media has become an important medium to communicate landmarks by setting the issue, spreading the information, identity formation of landmarks and it even affect the fate of some landmarks. On the other hand. the boom of landm arks provide a lot of stories for the media and it frequently appers in the media reports. The media, landmarks and public influence each other, then form the reali ty of city landmarks.The boom of landmarks gives prominence to the topic of landmarks and the mass media. This article adopts the perspective of Media geography, takes the rep orts of landmarks in Peoples Daily as the research sample and adopts the method of content analysis to discuss the relationship between landmarks and the mass media, the media representation of city landmark so that explore the interactive re lationship of the landmark and the mass media.First of all, the essay take the reports of Peoples Daily form1985to2013a s a sample to carry out quantitative Analysis. The first step is to give an overall analysis of the reports. Then the essay will analyze the samples in the view of t ime and space.Secondly, the research will analyze the iconic building from three aspects:the the image, the function, the meaning to explore the iconic architecture in the medFinally, on the basis of quantitative and qualitative analysis, the research will explore the relationship between the mass media and landmark, analyze the probl ems of the landmark reports. Then the article will give some suggestions on the current reports of landmark to answer the boom to the building of landmarks in order to realize the benign interaction of landmark building and media repots.
