Currently, super high-rise buildings in our country are developed rapidly. These buildings, as a new structural form, have not yet experienced a major earthquake test. In this paper, elastic-plastic analyses are carried out for a specific super high-rise building, which is in the form of frame-corewall sutructures and is under the action of seismic loadings. The method combining "performance-based seismic design concept" and Chinese seismic design is adopted in the present work, which includes the following four aspects:(1) This paper discusses the design conditions, ground motion parameters, the structure beyond various limits given by corresponding specifications, computational software and analysis models, for the foregoing high-rise building.(2) Pushover analyses are made for the building subjected to rare earthquake, to obtain the capacity spectrum, yielding mechanism and some other mechanical behaviors. The health conditions for the building can be evaluated based on the computional results and some recommendations can be made as a guild in structural design.(3) Dynamic elasto-plastic computations are made for the building subjected to disastrous earthquakes, to obtain the biggest drift angle, the biggest drift angle harmful, floor shear response, floor displacement response and other instrinsic parameters. The weak points of the structure can be detected.(4) Comparisons of the results from the pushover and dynamic elasto-plastic analyses are made to estimate the mechanical behaviors under the extreme external loadings, in order to meet the standard-’" buildings do not collapse even in rare earthquake"...
