This paper takes the super high-rise building of Dalian World Financial Center as background, which is beyond the code limits (beyond B grade), firstly conducted further selection and optimization for its lateral force resisting system according to the steel frame-concrete core tube structure adopted in the preliminary design scheme. Then according to the newly issued seismic code and the related requirements of the high-rise construction review, its elastic and elasto-plastic seismic behavior under frequent and rare earthquake was analyzed. The main research work and results are as follows:(1) Further selection and optimization for lateral force resisting system of the steel frame-concrete core tube structure. The program SATWE was used to establish the structure model and analyze the steel frame-concrete core tube structure proposed in the preliminary design scheme, and then according to the structure features and situation of overrunning the codes obtained from initial analysis, the finite element software ETABS was used to conduct the further selection and optimization for its lateral force resisting system and study the effect of strengthened storey and diagonal brace comparatively, which shows that the diagonal brace scheme is more effective to increase the lateral stiffness in X-direction;(2) Three kinds of software SATWE, ETABS and MIDAS BUILDING were used to conduct elastic static analysis and structural optimization of the steel frame-concrete core tube structure with diagonal brace. Through the comparison of main indices obtained from different software, the validity of the establishment and analysis process of the structure model is verified. And the results show that every index of the structure meets the requirements in the codes, however there are some weak layers in local structure;(3) The elastic time-history analysis under frequent earthquake and elaso-plastic time-history analysis under rare earthquake of optimized structure system were carried out by MIDAS BUILDING. Comparing the results from elastic time-history response and modal decomposition response spectrum method, it can be seen that the partial structural response by time-history analysis is beyond that by response spectrum, and the internal force and members need to be modified. Meanwhile the results from elasto-plastic time-history analysis show that the plastic storey drift angles meet the requirements in specification and the plastic development meets the performance-based structure design objectives. After that, the comparison between elastic and elasto-plastic results from time-history analyses under the same rare earthquake wave verifies the correctness of the elaso-plastic time-history analysis;(4) The pushover analysis under rare earthquake was conducted by MIDAS BUILDING, and its results are compared with the results from the elaso-plastic time-history analysis, which shows that the pushover analysis adopting seismic shear loading mode can evaluate the seismic performance of this high-rise structure approximately.
