With the development of the world’s heavy haul transportation, applications of heavy haul locomotives in various countries are also becoming more common. The increase of train length and axle loads is the development trend in the heavy haul locomotives. At present, more and more emphasis on the study of heavy haul locomotives in our country, with the increase of axle load, the dynamic performance will change, although there have been many research on dynamic performance of specific axle load, but rarely involves in good or bad of dynamic performance of heavy haul locomotives under different axle load. Based on this, by applying multi-body system dynamic software to establish heavy haul locomotive models of25t/30t axle load of2Bo and2Co axle arrangement.Analyze the dynamic performance and the good or bad of the two kinds of locomotives in the axle load of25t and30t.Main research work and conclusion are as follows.1) On the basis of investigating the development of heavy transportation, heavy haul locomotives and the current situation of dynamic at home and abroad, according to the structure and dynamic parameters of large axle load locomotives, establish heavy haul locomotive models of25t/30t axle load of2Bo and2Co.2) According to the dynamic performance evaluation and standards of locomotive running on straight line, analyze the straight line performance and gives the pros and cons of criterion of two different axle load and axle arrangement of large axle load locomotives, mainly including the vehicle stability, ride comfort and the vehicle body acceleration.3)According to the dynamic performance evaluation and standards of locomotive running through curve, setting R300small radius curve, based on this, analyze and compare the curve performance, including axle transverse force, derailment coefficient and wheel unloading rate.The results showed that.Running on straight line condition, the vehicle stability of2Bo axle arrangement of25t heavy haul locomotive is slightly better than30t, but worse ride comfort and vibration acceleration; the difference of vehicle stability, the maximum value of car body vibration acceleration and vehicle lateral ride comfort of2Co axle arrangement of25t/30t heavy haul locomotive is small,25t heavy haul locomotive vertical ride comfort indicator is better than30t under the speed of80km/h, but the permitted running speed is less when beyond the vertical ride comfort qualified range.Running through curve condition,25t/30t heavy haul locomotive of2Bo axle transverse force on each wheel set is within the limit value, but30t heavy haul locomotive axle transverse force margin of each wheel set is larger,25t heavy haul locomotive derailment coefficient is greater, wheel unloading rate is smaller; the25t heavy haul locomotive of2Co first and fourth axle transverse force is slightly over the limit value when the unbalanced centrifugal acceleration is0.8m/s2,at the same unbalanced centrifugal acceleration30t heavy haul locomotive axle transverse force margin of each wheel set is larger, so have higher security;30t heavy haul locomotive derailment coefficient reached excellent at the same unbalanced centrifugal acceleration, and the value is smaller, less likely to derail.25t heavy haul locomotive wheel unloading rate is up to0.66, over than the dangerous value of0.65which should be avoided when the unbalanced centrifugal acceleration0.8m/s2, at the same unbalanced centrifugal acceleration,30t heavy haul locomotive wheel unloading rate is slightly better.
