Currently, the conventional motors are provided with various types of AC and DC motors with continuous rotation movement, the stepper, servo motors with intermittent rotary motion, and the linear motor with linear motion. However, in practice, application there are also many conditions only to swing back and forth within a certain angle around the axis, not within360°to drive the load rotate driving load, for this purpose, Based on the application drawback of the conventional motor reciprocating within certain Angle, a new permanent magnet arc motor (PMAM)is put forward, which can directly drive load for reciprocating motion within a limited angle, and do not need to apply the combination the rotating motor and other transmission mechanism to fulfill. What’s more, it is provided with advantages of simplification, reliability, high efficiency, etc. This paper designed two kinds of permanent magnet arc motor, one is the permanent magnet arc guideway motor (PMAGM), the other is the permanent magnet arc pendular motor (PMAPM) which semi circular guide is designed into circular guide,based on its design principle. Permanent magnet arc motor makes the mechanical technology, microelectronics technology and electromagnetic technology combined, realizing the closed-loop control of electromechanical integration, do not need mechanical driving mechanism, but directly driving controlled object. Meanwhile, brushless structure adopted not only can avoid the weaknesses of the brush motors, but also is more simplex than brushless motor of electronic commutation.First of all, this paper describes the innovation and advance of the permanent magnet arc motor, and exposes the main structure, characteristics and working principle of the permanent magnet arc guideway motor (PMAGM) and the permanent magnet variable angle arc oscillating motor (PMAPM)Then, the related theory of electromagnetic field finite element is discussed, and the Ansoft/Maxwell electromagnetic field simulation software is introduced. Focus on different magnetization of permanent magnet and different electrifying modes of electric coil, using Ansoft/Maxwell electromagnetic field simulation software for electromagnet-ic field simulation. Mainly, the2d static magnetic field,2d parameterization,3d parame- tric and3d transient magnetic field are analyzed. Comparing different magnetization of permanent magnet and different electrifying modes of electric coil, it is shown that the optimal mode of electrifying and magnetization, So that the permanent magnet arc motor produces the maximum electromagnetic force and the optimal performance of the dynamic response.Finally, the mathematical modeling is established for permanent magnet arc motor, Matlab software is used to calculate the electric magnetic force of permanent magnet arc motor. Meanwhile, establishing voltage balance equation and force balance equation, using Laplace transform, the control block diagram of permanent magnet arc motor is proposed, at the same way, the time domain and frequency domain responsing analysis are carried out by using Matlab software. Finally it is concluded that the motor designed in this paper is provide with characteristics of faster response, better stability.
