Lime loess and lime-fly ash loess could meet the requirements of a certain strength and stiffness,as the traditional materials in road base. And the characteristic is convenient, simple, low cost, etc. But they can be further increased by adding other admixture, that early compressive strength, contraction coefficient, permeability coefficient, freeze-thaw resistance, and many defects. At the same time, the steel slag of new technology is hard, dense, and as well as good hydraulic gelation properties, not only can improve the compressive strength, contraction coefficient, permeability coefficient, freezing-thawing resisting, and others engineering characteristics of the base material, but also can turn waste into treasure, achieve a reasonable application of steel slag, have extremely important practical application significance.In this paper, lime, fly ash, slag powder and loess formulated lime-ash loess mixed with steel slag, through laboratory test research on the engineering properties such as compressive strength, shrinkage properties, permeability, and freeze-thaw performance, to extensive use in highway engineering slag. Study the following steps:(1) Using the orthogonal experiment method to analyze the strength factor of lime-ash loess mixed with steel slag, and explore the optimal mix proportion.(2) loess, Lime loess, lime-fly ash loess and lime-ash loess mixed with steel slag compressive strength, shrinkage coefficient, permeability and freeze-thaw resistance were analyzed by the comparison test methods which of loess, Lime loess, lime-fly ash loess and lime-ash loess mixed with steel slag.The results show that:When the lime dosage is10%,the fly ash dosage is10%and the steel slag powder dosage is20%in the mixture, this mixtures has the highest compression strength.Within an appropriate range, to incorporate more slag powder, the compressive strength, shrinkage performance, anti-permeability and freeze-thaw resistance are higher; The compressive strength, shrinkage coefficient, permeability and freeze-thaw resistance of lime-ash loess mixed with steel slag are far superior engineering properties of lime loess and lime-fly ash loess, to meet the relevant technical specifications as road base material.
