In recent years, with the improvement of people’s life, washing machine has becomea necessity in every household. The energy crisis followed with the overwhelmingdevelopment of society has attracted more and more attention. Because efficiency ofdriving motors is low, with the transmission system, efficiency of entire driving system ofwashing machine is lower. Because of high power density, high efficiency, simplestructure and other advantages, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) is moreand more widely used in washing machine.This paper analyses the current situation, the future developing trend and the demandof the household appliances motors. Comparing with the system of the traditionalsingle-phase induction motor driven by belt transmission, the conclusion is that instead ofusing the traditional way to drive the system, using the three-phase permanent magnetmotor which is supplied by the single-phase AC power, has more advantages. First, Thispaper established the mathematical model of three-phase permanent magnet synchronousmotor. With the condition of single-phase power (220V,50Hz) supply, the hardwarecircuit of the three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor control system is designed.On the platform of CCS3.3, with C language as the programming language, the mainprogram, interrupt program is designed. Second, the simulation model of the PMSMcontrol system for a washing machine is established. The VVVF control algorithm and thesliding mode observer method are used in the simulation. The simulation results is goodFinally, the direct driving type washing machine and the traditional washing machineelectricity contrast experiment is carried out. Results show that the direct-drive washingmachine using three-phase PMSM saves30%energy. The washing machine design ofpermanent magnet synchronous motor control system debugging experiment is carried out,and results prove that the performance of washing machine control system is stable.
