Shandong Province is rich in wind power resources and there is a good foundation for large scale wind farms, especially the establishment of million kilowatts wind power base which accelerating the development of wind power in Shandong Province. Shandong Province has set off a boom of wind farm construction. However, the randomness and non-controllable of wind power resources will inevitably reduce the security and reliability of grid operation. The paper starts a research on wind power receptiveness and integration mode of Shandong Province, according to the planning of power and network structure in Shandong. After analyzing the peak load regulation ability, power flow and transmission capacity, as well as transient stability, the wind power receptiveness of the Shandong power grid is concluded and some suggestions of improvement are proposed. The main work of this report is shown as below:1. The basis for this research is presented, including the operation status of Shandong power grid, planning of power supply and power grid, and load level prediction, as well as requirement for wind power integration.2. Wind power receptiveness and integration mode of Shandong Power Grid.●Correlation between wind power and load variation.Including the relevance between wind power output and wind speed, wind farm output power of probabilistic statistics at various levels, variation characteristics of hourly wind power, the correlation between wind power variation and daily load as well as monthly load. The influence of the peak load regulation ability on wind power receptivenessRandomness, variation and non-scheduling of wind power will take problems to power grid operation, especially on the low load level, the regulation ability of other controllable power supply may be the key factor to the limitation of wind power receptiveness. Proposed measures on peak load regulation is the key to increase the wind power receptiveness of Shandong power grid. Analysis on power flow and transmission capacityMost wind farms are located at the east coast of Shandong Province, which is the end of the grid. As network structure of regional grid is relatively weak, large-capacity wind farm integration will cause low voltage and network congestion, by analysis on power flow and transmission capacity with wind power integration, improvements can be proposed to increase wind power receptiveness.Analysis on the transient stability of power gridWith the large-scale wind power integration, the inertia of power system is altered because of difference of generation technique between wind turbines and synchronous generators, so is the transient stability. An analysis on the transient stability can ensure the resilience to various disturbances.
