During the progress of the digitization and visualization of avionics systems, airborne display is of great significance. As a core component of airborne displaysystems, high-performance airborne graphics engines help to display clear and stableframes of aviation cockpit. Currently, the domestic high-performance graphics enginesmainly depend on the developed countries. Thus, it is meaningful to develop thegraphics engines with proprietary intellectual property rights.By discussing the design and implementation of high-performance airbornegraphics engines, this thesis researches deeply into the working principles andimplementation methods of3D rendering pipelines. Firstly, according to the relevantstandards of OpenGL, the theoretical framework is elementarily established for thedesign and implementation of the airborne graphics engines. Secondly, the design of thearchitecture of the3D airborne graphics engine is finished, and the related algorithms ofgeometric transformation, projection transformation, clipping, lighting and shading, texture mapping and rasterization are completed. Meanwhile, the3D graphics libraryMTIGL is implemented. Finally, the design of the testing framework of the graphicslibrary MTIGL is accomplished, and the complete test cases are created to verify thefunction and performance of the rendering pipeline of the3D graphics engine based onthe test system with software rendering platform.Experimental results demonstrate that the graphics library can fulfill the drawing ofthe basic primitives with high rendering efficiency and stable performance. This enginehas been used in a domestic airborne display system which is at the stage of the finaltest.
