Preliminary Application Of The Principles Of Landscape Heterogeneity And Diversity In Residential Landscape Design

Ecological landscape design of residential quarters has become the mainstream thought inthe current planning and design. But in the theoretical exploration and design practice of theecological landscape design for residential quarters, the application of landscape ecology stillremains in abstract and general stage. For this reason, performing research aim at the use oflandscape heterogeneity and diversity, the core theory in landscape ecology, in the ecologicallandscape design for residential quarters, has practical significance to promote and improve thelandscape ecological design for residential area.In this paper, the use of landscape heterogeneity and diversity on landscape design forresidential quarters were systematically studied, with methods of literature research、comparative analysis、 case studies＆field investigation and summarization．First, this paperexpounded the background、purpose、significance、framework and methods of it′s research,summarized the current application status and research trends of landscape heterogeneity anddiversity on landscape design for residential area, and found out the direction and breakthroughof future research，based on the analysis of the use of landscape heterogeneity and diversity onlandscape design as well as of the correlation theory and specific examples about the landscapeecological design for residential area. Secondly, this paper elaborated the correlation theory oflandscape heterogeneity and diversity in terms of their origins、concepts、 characteristics、protecting、maintaining and the relationships between them、etcetera, meanwhile landscapeheterogeneity and landscape design planning management were analyzed in first slightly. Next,from the five aspects of spatial scales, green landscape system, water landscape, road pavement,structures and other pieces to start with, this paper made an carefully、objective and impartialanalysis on the existing landscape design of the Hengyang Zhongtai Fenjing residential area asthe research object, Fully affirmed the planning and designing experiments of the researchobject, such as respecting native vegetation, according to potential construction of water, appropriate spatial scale, diverse green space planning, planting a variety of species, skitprominent theme designed，and so on. Further, using theoretical analysis, physical contrast,comprehensive measurement and other methods, this paper analyzed the deficiencies of thestudy area, such as the inherent problems on landscape space overall layout, the safety of waterlandscape being ill-considered, eco-friendly road pavement reflecting not enough, not muchchange in the structure and landscape sketches, and so on. Finally, this paper drew eightconclusions about the use of landscape heterogeneity and diversity on landscape design forresidential quarters, through analyzing the successful experience and the problems in the use oflandscape heterogeneity and diversity on landscape design for the study area. These eightconclusions are: being consistent with the overall plan; keeping harmonious with the residentand owners; keeping the original terrain to be relatively constant; maintaining equilibriumcoordination with various elements; maintaining the ecological species varied; maintainingclose contact with local culture and keeping the theme styles to match each other.This paper has a certain significance for designers, public or government decision-makingdepartments.
