Permanent magnet synchronous generator(PMSG) has been widely used in wind power system because of its advantages, such as simple structure, high reliability, small volume and so on. The PMSG in this paper is different from the direct drive permanent magnet synchronous in the wind power system, which is widely used now days. Its rated speed is high and7000r/min. It was designed to use in the maglev magnetic dynamic wind turbine energy storage power station in Gaoqing County, Zibo City, Shandong Province. In this wind power generation system, the special transmission device is used to guarantee the PMSG working at its rated speed.The main content of the paper includes:First of all, according to the special requirements, the PMSG is designed, and the main geometrical parameters and electromagnetic performance are determined.Secondly, the analytical model of the PMSG based on the sub-domain method is established, and the model is verified with the finite element method(FEM). Because of the high speed, in order to fix the permanent magnet, part of the magnet material is installed in iron core of the rotor. And every pole has three magnets, which are radically magnetized. Considering the different effect of the permanent magnet in the air gap and the iron core on the magnetic field, the permanent magnet is divided into two sub-domains. Then, six sub-domains are obtained according to the geometrical configuration and the electromagnetic characteristics. The partial differential equations are established in all the sub-domains, and the general solutions of the magnetic vector potential are obtained. With the boundary conditions between the adjacent sub-domains, the magnetic field is solved, and the electromagnetic performance is calculated. Compared the finite element results with the analytical results, the accuracy of the analytical model is verified.Thirdly, based on FEM software ANSYS, the rotor protection measures of the generator is studied. By means of binding carbon fiber cases, the small and large pre-tightening force situation is analyzed. The results show that only using carbon fiber can’t guarantee the normal operation of the machine. The protective measures of using bolt with carbon fiber together is advised and adopted in the prototype motor.Finally, the prototype motor is produced and the prototype test is done. The results show that the performance of the PMSG has reached the requirement of national standard.
