Aerostatic bearings, a new kind of production in bearing industry, are known itsadvantages. Such as high speed, low friction, small noise, no pollution and high precisionand so on. And they gradually were used in many occasions like aerospace,medical treatment, nuke industry, High precision machine tools or Semiconductor waferprocessing. However, the development of static pressure air bearings is also restricted byits shortcomings like low bearing capacity, huge gas consumption, easy jam its Air inletand the complexity of its Reynolds equation’s solution.In order to improve the above shortages, following works have been carried in thisarticle.First of all, the development of gas bearing and the domestic and foreign developmentpresent situations are summarized. Based on this, the working principle of gas bearing iselaborated.By disposing the three fundamental equations known as the Continuity equationof fluid, momentum equation, energy equation of fluid, Reynolds equation is deduced. Andthought those jobs, the theoretical foundation of static pressure gas bearing’s simulationwas established.Secondly, three-dimensional simulation model of gas bearing is set up by Fluent’spreprocessor Gambit. According the similarity of simulation model, automatic simulationmodel established method was summarized and the simulation efficiency is enhanced.Out of the thin thickness of gas film caused large of unit number, the exceed problem ofsoftware happened during mesh generation. In order to overcome the problem, Symmetrysimulation model method is put forward.Then bearing static load condition isanalyzed.As well as plot the related graph of load capacity parallels with bearingdiameter, bearing width, Air inlet diameter, Average radius clearance of the bearing,eccentricity ratio, Air inlet quantity are drawed. Through the diagram Bearing capacity andgas consumption and the relationship between the performance of parameters can be clearly reflected which would contributes to the improvement of the performance of thegas bearing.Then, under the condition of Ignored the offset Angle, dynamic pressure effect ofStatic pressure gas bearing is simulated. And with the obtained of simulated data of Highstate of revolution, plots of internal pressure, Gas velocity profile and Bearing capacity andgas consumption verus bearing of revolution are concluded. By compared the relationshipof bearing capacity between stationary state and rotation state, several conclusions weresummed up. Bearing capacity of Static pressure gas bearing in the rotor rotation is the sumof the bearing capacity of the hydrostatic bearing capacity and the dynamic capacity. Whenthe revolution of the rotor system is only a few hundred or even lower, the dynamicpressure effect of bearing capacity is far less than the static bearing capacity. When therotor speed increase, bearing’s capacity of the dynamic pressure generated into a basic linegrowth. The concrete slope varies accorded to the bearing parameters.
