The claw pole machine with outer permanent magnet rotor (ASCPM) is a special kindof the permanent magnet motor. As its high torque and power density, low core loss at highfrequency, simple structure, and low manufacturing cost, it has attracted more and moreattention. So it is more suitable for Vehicle ISAD system to be acted as a starter andgenerator which request motor with higher performance. Vehicle ISAD system is anintegration of multi-functions of generating electricity, boost, damp and startup. ISADsystem has been a hot issue in the field of vehicle technology overseas recently. Thismethod is a new attempt.The application of the ASCPM used in the ISAD system has studied in this paper.Lots of researches have been carried out with combination of the basic theory, formula,MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation research, making controller and test. Specific content isin brief followings:Firstly, the development of ISAD system at home and abroad have been introduced inthis paper. Then composition, function and the development of ISAD system have beenintroduced. The structure of motor, performance and characteristics, analysis of the motorpower and power operation mechanism have been introduced systematically in this paper.Secondly, a feasible control system is presented based on the above efforts:(1)The current,speed double closed-loop control have been used. The PI parameter of current and speeddouble loop have been calculated and optimized to make the control system moreaccurate.(2)As the motor can not use position sensor to detect the commutation signal, theback EMF three harmonic detection method has been used to determine the relativeposition of the rotor and the stator. The zero windings communication information throughthe electromotive force of motor winding neutral point has been used to detect the threeharmonic. The block diagram of speed and current double closed-loop control system ofthe claw pole is given in this paper. Then, the ISAD system model and the running status in the various working mode ofthe claw pole motor have been introduced. According to the working mode of the clawpole motor, starting and damping mode of the claw pole motor, the control strategy havebeen put forward. And the feasibility of the control strategy has been verified byMATLAB simulation. The three harmonic detection circuit, PWM circuit has beendesigned. According to requirement of control strategy and software, the programming hasbeen carried out. The control system software is implemented through PIC16F87of theMicrochip company.At last, the experimental platform based on the ASCPM of1.5kw is built. A series ofsystematic and in-depth researches on the ASCPM of startup, boost, generating electricityand damp states have been carried out. The test results show that the control method andcontrol system are reliable.
