The world energy development has came into the era of low carbon. Natural gas is aquality and efficient energy, the ratio of which in primary energy consumption willcontinually increase. China is in the transition period of energy structure optimization, and thenatural gas industry has been in the golden time of rapid development, but there are manyproblems, such as: gas supply security, gas source shortage, insufficience of gas storage andpeak-shaving facilities, these will affect the safe and stable operation of the urban natural gashigh-pressure pipeline system and the sustainable development of the natural gas industry.This paper discusses gas storage and peak-shaving of the high-pressure pipeline networkand responds to the pipeline failure accident in the urban natural gas high-pressure pipelinesystem through the dynamic simulation of natural gas high-pressure pipeline network of thecity in the South China under normal operation condition and the accident condition of gassource failure. The conclusion is as follows:(1)The inventory of the city’s high-pressure pipe network for hours peak-shaving is notenough. Thus, another high-pressure gas spherical tank should be set up.(2)The city’s high-pressure gas supply pipe network system can withstand the accidentof small gas source which accounts for less than15%of the total amount of gas supply. Theother two large gas sources must be in function.(3)For such a medium-sized city, at least two common gas sources should be ensure tosupply gas together. Preferably a main gas source point account for around70%of the totalamount of gas supply and an auxiliary gas source point account for the left30%. The maingas source point should form a circular pipeline network to supply gas. For the city of dualgas source supply, the needs of the user of natural gas can not be blocked should be made fullinvestigation, each source should be able to ensure that the not interrupt user’s demand.
