The present study was carried out to evaluate and identify high-quality special potato varieties suitable for planting in Zhejiang province and to define its optimal cultivation practices. The main results were summarized as follows:1. Potato variety comparative trial results showed that cv. MuZishu No.1is a suitable cultivar for cultivating in Zhejiang province, which performed the characteristics of high yield (21.77t/hm2), good quality and great commodity rate (85.1%). Another good quality suitable cultivar is Feiwuruita which yielded23.69ton per hectare with a valuable tuber ratio. In addition, Yunshu201showed a high yield (25.99t/hm2) as well. Compared with cv. Dongnong303(a large-scale cultivated variety), the yield of Yunshu201increased24.64%. However, being high in starch contents, Yunshu201could be popularized as a milling cultivar in Zhejiang.2. The effects of different levels and different ratios of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium on potato yield and quality were studied using dual regression "3414" completely experimental design. Regression equations of yield value were established. The results revealed that the optimum fertilization was N131.83kg/hm2, P2O575.51kg/hm2and K2O202.57kg/hm2(N: P2O5:K2O=1:0.57:1.54), with the tuber yield equal to or more than24.34ton per hectare.3. The effects of planting density and application of fertilizers of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium on yields of purple potato (Solanum tuberosum L. cv. MuZishu No.1) were established using second saturating D-optimal design. Regression equation was constructed as well. The results indicated that the most effective measures for high yield of purple potato were to ensure the sufficient planting density with the application of more phosphorus and opportune nitrogen and potassium fertiliaers. According to the experimental results, in order to obtain high yields (more than22.5t/hm2) of purple potato planting in early February in east of Zhejiang province, the optimal combination of agronomic measures was as follows:the planting density was between55,900and58,800seedlings per hectare, the fertilization of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium were141.27-161.79kgN/hm2,103.68-118.68kg P2O5/hm2and242.22-264.72kg K2O/hm2,respectively.
