The subterranean termite, an economically important pest species damaging trees and wooden structures, has a wide distribution in cities and rural areas on the earth. According to statistics, its harm area accounts for50%of global total area and caused the huge economic loss to the countries all over the world. Since the signing of the Stockholm Convention, the Chlordane and Mirex which have occupied a key position in the field of termite control agents are being phased out gradually. Notably, the physical control and the biological control are better for the environment, but they can not be applied widely because of the immature technique and the expensive price. The chemical control is still the main method for the termite control in China or even in the world. So looking for the new substitute agent becomes the first task of the termite control workers. The bifenthrin EW is the medium toxicity insecticide which does not move in the soil and not accumulated in the human body and the animals, so it is relatively safe to the environment. Besides, it also play a unique role in both approach-avoidance and high-poisoned, achieving a good prevention and control effect in the new-constructed buildings. With the people’s consciousness of protecting the environment and the waste of the resource, the concern to the drug residues in agricultural products and the chemical prevention effect of agricultural insecticide become the focus of attention. So explore the efficacy test standard method, become a breakthrough point to the termite control. This study measured the death rate of coptotermes formosamus Shiraki which contact the soil barrier or timber with the4.5%bifenthrin EW. Then discuss the rationality of the new test standard and determine the specific experimental methods. The results show that:In the soil barrier to prevent termite validation test, the results show that the rationality of test standard about weathering and non-weathering、the termite number、 distilled water volume and test device. In a similar way, the wood protection test check the ageing and non-ageing treatment、soak time and standard methods, contrast dipping with brushing and weed out the brushing. The last step, prevent coptotermes formosamus Shiraki with the soil barrier and block which dip with4.5%bifenthrin EW and record mortality. In conclusion, if properly increasing the agent concentration, the desired effect of4.5%bifenthrin EW for wood protection and soil barrier can be achieved. And the new test standard methods can be applied to laboratory experiment.
