This study was carried out to evaluate the fermentation quality of both the mixed silage of hullessbarley and wheat straw with perennial ryegrass and tall fescue at different rates and the mixed silage adding cornzyme, molasses and lactobacillus to find the optimal mixture rates and additives. There are nine experiments in this study.Experiment1:Effect of different combination ratio of hullessbarley straw and perennial ryegrass on fermentation quality, hullessbarley straw with perennial ryegrass were chopped, and mixed in ratios of100:0,80:20,60:40and40:60(fresh weight basis), denoted Control, QH20, QH40and QH60.The results showed:With the increase in the proportion of perennial ryegrass, lactic acid and water soluble carbohydrate contents and lactic acid/acetic acid value increased, fermentation quality was improved.Experiment2:Effect of adding cornzyme and lactobacillus on fermentation quality of mixed ensilage of hullessbarley straw and perennial ryegrass. There are a total of four treatments in this experiment:(1) Control (without additive),(2) QHE (cornzyme),(3) QHL (lactobacillus),(4) QHEL (cornzyme+lactobacillus). The results showed:adding lactobacillus can accelerate lactic fermentation, adding cornzyme can improve the fermentation quality, increased the content of water soluble carbohydrate and lactic acid and decreased the value of pH and ammonia nitrogen/total nitrogen. Fermentation quality of mixed ensilage of hullessbarley straw and perennial ryegrass can be further improved through the addition of cornzyme+lactobacillus.Experiment3:Effect of adding molasses and lactobacillus on fermentation quality of mixed ensilage of hullessbarley straw and perennial ryegrass. There are a total of four treatments in this experiment:(1) Control (without additive),(2) QHM (molasses),(3) QHL (lactobacillus),(4) QHML (molasses+lactobacillus). The results showed:adding lactobacillus can accelerate lactic fermentation. However, there is the increase in the content of butyric acid and the ratio of ammonia nitrogen/total nitrogen in the latter ensiling period in the lactobacillus treatment group due to lacking of substrates. The addition of molasses can supply the lactic fermentative substrates, therefore improving silage fermentation quality. Fermentation quality of mixed ensilage of hullessbarley straw and perennial ryegrass can be further improved through the addition of molasses+lactobacillus.Experiment4:Effect of different combination ratio of hullessbarley straw and tall fescue on fermentation quality. Hullessbarley straw with tall fescue were chopped, and mixed in ratios of100:0,80:20,60:40and40:60(fresh weight basis), denoted Control, QW20, QW40and QW60. The results showed:With the proportion of tall fescue increased, lactic acid and water soluble carbohydrate contents increased,, acetic acid contents, pH and ammonia nitrogen/total nitrogen values decreased and the fermentation quality continues to increased.Experiment5:Effect of adding cornzyme and lactobacillus on fermentation quality of mixed ensilage of hullessbarley straw and tall fescue. There are a total of four treatments in this experiment:(1) Control (without additive),(2) QWE (cornzyme),(3) QWL (lactobacillus),(4) QWEL (cornzyme+lactobacillus). The results showed:Fermentation quality of mixed ensilage of wheat straw and perennial ryegrass can not be improved with adding cornzyme. Adding lactobacillus significantly improved the quality of their silage fermentation. The fermentation quality was further improvement in group of adding enzymes+lactobacillus.Experiment6:Effect of adding molasses and lactobacillus on fermentation quality of mixed ensilage of hullessbarley straw and tall fescue. There are a total of four treatments in this experiment:(1) Control (without additive),(2) QWM (molasses),(3) QWL (lactobacillus),(4) QWML (molasses+lactobacillus). The results showed:Adding lactobacillus to accelerate the process of lactic acid fermentation and improve the fermentation quality of mixed ensilage of hullessbarley straw and tall fescue, adding molasses also accelerated the process of lactic fermentation. Transform the type of lactic acid fermentation from the homogeneous type to a heterogeneous type in the latter part of the promotion of lactic acid fermented.Experiment7:Effect of different combination ratio of wheat straw and perennial ryegrass on fermentation quality. Wheat straw with perennial ryegrass were chopped, and mixed in ratios of100:0,80:20,60:40and40:60(fresh weight basis), denoted Control, XH20, XH40and XH60. The results showed:Lactic acid and water soluble carbohydrate contents increased in the group of adding perennial ryegrass. At the same time acetic acid, butyric acid and total volatile fatty acids contents and ammonia nitrogen/total nitrogen values decreased in the group of adding perennial ryegrass.Experiment8:Effect of adding cornzyme and lactobacillus on fermentation quality of mixed ensilage of wheat straw and perennial ryegrass. There are a total of four treatments in this experiment:(1) Control (without additive),(2) XHE (cornzyme),(3) XHL (lactobacillus),(4) XHEL (cornzyme+lactobacillus). The results showed:Mixed wheat straw and perennial ryegrass can get high-quality silage, adding enzymes and lactobacillus can not significant improve fermentation quality.Experiment9:Effect of adding molasses and lactobacillus on fermentation quality of mixed ensilage of wheat straw and perennial ryegrass. There are a total of four treatments in this experiment:(1) Control (without additive),(2) XHM (molasses),(3) XHL (lactobacillus),(4) XHML (molasses+lactobacillus). The results showed:adding lactobacillus can accelerate lactic fermentation. Added molasses can not significant improve fermentation quality. Fermentation quality of the group of adding molasses+lactobacillus was no significant differences compared with the group of adding molasses.
