This article conducts research on the Turpan black sheep`s germ plasm characteristicssuch as appearance characteristics,physical appearance index, regulation of growingdevelopment, reproductive performance, meat production performance and nutrientcomponent of mutton.The results show that: the average birth weight, daily weight gain ofone month old lamb, weaned weight of7month old lamb, one year old weight and adult bodyweight of male sheep is4.350kg,326g,41.33kg,43.42kg and60.36kg respectively; and thefemale`s is4.05kg,293g,39.26kg,40.63kg and52.71kg respectively. The average dressingpercentage of adult male sheep is49.93%and female`s is46.81%. The sexual maturity age ofthe both male and female lamb are6to8month. The mutton have high content of protein,low fat and cholesterol.In conclusion the growth and development of the Turpan black sheepin before the age of seven month is most faster, and belongs to the growth early sheepvariety.Turpan black sheep is a excellent local sheep which is suitable for stall-fed andgrazing, resist heat, cold and drought, have high meat production and better meat quality andhave obvious utility value. In the future, In Turpan black sheep`s aquaculture productionprocess pay close attention to the characteristic of growth early is can be able to make full useof Turpan black sheep`s economic benefit.
