In the management of irrigation area information, the meteorological informationmonitoring technology is the most important one to optimize the regulation of waterresources in the irrigation area. The traditional monitoring meteorological information forirrigation area in our country is backward, and it doesn’t meet the requirements of themodern irrigation area information construction.So it has a profound meaning to analysisthe irrigation water allocation’s requirement for themeteorological information monitoringin order to research new water information observation system which is low cost and easyto maintain. Meanwhile the hardware and software system as well as the PC softwareshould be designed.The irrigation observation nodes are often in some remote places, so it has very highrequirement for the system’s reliability compared with other MCU. MSP430series MCUhas ultra-low power consumption, high reliability, strong anti-jamming capability which isvery suitable to be used in irrigation area.So in this article MSP430F169is used as core ofthe main control unit, which will be in low power consumption mode when it is not usedand it can work stably with battery powered. Within MSP430F169chip, the I2C buscommunication interface and12bit A/D are integrated together which can implement thetransformation and process of data. Then the data transformed from serial port will bedisplayed in the information monitoring software which is based on upper computerdeveloped with VB.System through another M20of serial port and GSM module, userssend text messages to display the current collection of the irrigation area information.In this article the whole design scheme based on MSP430single chip microcomputerand VB software is firstly introduced. Secondly, the design of the hardware includinginformation acquisition interface circuit、LCD interface circuit、communication interfacecircuit、date\clock interface circuit、M20communication circuit module of lower computercontrol system based on MSP430F169is introduced. This system samples the waterinformation and transmits it to the upper computer port. Finally, the design of software partof MSP430F169microcontroller、data sensor、date display、data transmission、GPRS sendMMS as well as the design of irrigation information observation system which can receive、display、store the data from serial ports are introduced. The result shows that: the data sampling and transmitting technology based on MSP430can implement the sampling and transmitting. the information from the irrigation areaswhich are remote and disperse. Meanwhile the cost is reduced and it can work stably for along time so as to be a useful technique in the observation of irrigation water allocationmanagement’s information.
