There have been a large number ofresearches about red maple adaptability in the past ten years. Due to the many varieties, newvarieties continue to be introduced. Test varieties are different in different places, which performant differently. So the result cannot be used as absolute conclusions in all places.Adaptability is a phenomenon that organisms adapt to environmental. Weather conditionsare poor in Beijing where winter is Cold and dry, spring is dry and windy, summer is hot andrainfall is much focused. To examine adaptability of introduced species is necessary andimportant. Combining core mission of the current green and beautify building in Beijing andrelying Huangfa State Coleus species breeding base of Beijing, this study focus on14redmaples:‘Sienna Glen’,‘Autumn Spire’,‘Brandywine’,‘Morgan’,‘New World’,‘Northwood’,‘October Glory’,‘Red Sunset’,‘Red Pointe’,‘Scarlet Sentinel’,‘Sun Valley’,‘Somerset’,‘Autumn Fantasy’,‘Autumn Blaze’,which were introduced to Beijing in2012. It researches ontheir phonological characteristics, growth rhythm and ornamental characteristics andsummarizes the ecological adaptability and planting requirements of these color plants whichinclude the adaptability to temperature, the occurrence of pests and diseases. In conclusion, thefollowing7species are the varieties with better performance which are ‘Sienna Glen’,‘AutumnBlaze’,‘Autumn Fantasy’,‘Somerset’,‘Red Sunset’,‘Red Pointe’,‘Brandywine’. The subjectriches the Color plant species of the region, increased the plant diversity in Beijing andprovides a reference for selection of species of application plant the promotion and applicationand the breeding of fine varieties of Color plants in Beijing in the future.
