In order to increasing the efficiency of water resources and survival rate ofseeding in the arid and semi-arid areas by application of biodegradable films.Webuilt two Demonstration Garden in the suburb of Turpan by water-saving plantingtechnology. Demonstration Garden about Prunus armeniaca L used completelybiodegradable film during an experimental period of two years in Al township.Demonstration Garden about Vitis vinifera L applied three different films, namelycompletely biodegradable film, partly biodegradable film and ordinary film during anexperimental period of90days in Two BaoXiang. The traditional irrigation ascontrol check, some indications were investigated, such as survival rate、growing ofseeding and water conservation effects. The results showed that water was saved by60%under film mulching.Compared with control check, the survival rate of Prunus armeniaca L and Vitisvinifera L were increased by18.75%、13.3%. The water contents of the sandy soilwere increased at sampling depths of10to40cm by3.17%-3.54%,3.81%-5.29%,and4.2%-5.37%, respectively, under the completely biodegradable films、partlybiodegradable film and ordinary film. the number of sprouts and leaves、leave’surface area, width growth and new shoots were increased under completelybiodegradable film. The number of sprouts and leaves, the leave’ surface area and thegrowth of new shoots’ blades were increased under half biodegradable film. Thenumber of sprouts and the growth of new shoots’ ramifications were increased underordinary film. There were no obvious effect on these indications, for example stembasal diameter、diameter and length of new shoots、the number of new shoots’ramifations、the number of new shoots’ leaves and the growth of new shoots’ length.Under the premise of saving water, biodegradable film has the same effect of waterretention. Growth of seeding were increased by film mulching and the completelybiodegradable films were better than other.Compared with control check, the average of stem basal diameter was increasedby43.2%under film mulching.the number was increased by24.2%during thediameter class from60to80mm.The average of stem basal diameter was increasedby0.2327mm between two close diameter class. The average of height was increasedby15.5%,and the number were increased by9.4%、7.2%under the height class from1.5to3m and3to4m.The average of height was increased by0.0264m between twoclose height class. Allometric relation between stem basal diameter and height in Prunus armeniaca L had different equation under different treatments. The relationbetween stem basal diameter and height-SBD ratio was described by logarithmicregression under different treatments, but it was better under film mulching. It can be concluded that biodegradable film not only has an obvious effect on soilwater conservation, but also increased various survival rate and growthcharacteristics. Consequently, it should be considered for the use in agriculture.
