Plastic film mulch has been widely used in agricultural production. The plastic mulching technology though greatly improved the output of crops,it also led to a series of soil pollution in farmland. The research adopts the field experiment, made contrast tests among degradable films, plastic mulching and open culture of pepper in such aspects as soil temperature improving and temperature maintaining, physiological growth of pepper, fruit yield and quality. For further research on whether the degradable mulching could replace the common mulching in applying in agriculture production widely provide application basis. The main results indicated as below:(1)The degradation of the degradable film from the film covered two months start to emerge a small number of pores and cracks. After eight months, degradable film showed longitudinal cracks and holes. The common plastic film remained substantially intact on the surface. The decomposition rate of degradable film and ordinary plastic film are respectively 26.06% and 6.50%.In the soil, the decomposition rate of degradable film and ordinary plastic film are respectively 20.7% and 1.24%.(2)Root zone temperature under mulching was higher than that in no-mulching.The degradable film could effectively improve the soil temperature, but temperature of degradable mulching soil was lower than that of the ordinary plastic film;Soil water content was higher under the mulching practices than under no-mulching condition during the mulching process. In this experiment, the water retention effect of the degradable film on the soil was equivalent to that of the ordinary plastic film at the early period of pepper's fruiting stage. At the prosperous and late period of pepper's fruiting stage,Soil water content followed the order ordinary plastic film>degradable film>no-mulching.The degradable film effect soil organic matter similar to the ordinary plastic film during the period of the growth of pepper;pH had no significantly different between different treatment.(3)The plant height, stem diameter and dry matter of pepper under mulching treatments were significantly higher than that under no-mulching at the late period of pepper's fruiting stage. There is no significantly different in the plant height and stem diameter between degradable film and ordinary plastic film. The total dry weight of the pepper shows as follow: degradable film > ordinary plastic film >no-mulching.(4)The leaf chlorophyll content during growth period under mulching treatment were higher than that in no-mulching,and degradable film best improve leaf chlorophyll content among all treatment.Fv/Fm had no significantly different between different treatments.Mulching treatment could effectively increase root system vigor, and there is no significantly different between degradable film and ordinary plastic film.(5)Analyzed the influence of mulching on pepper yields and quality, the resultshowed that mulching treatment could significantly increase the pepper yield than no-mulching,but the difference was not significant among different mulch practices.Mulching could significantly increase the pepper Vc soluble sugar and soluble protein content, but mulching had no significant influence to the pepper pH value.Mulching reduced the nitrate content in pepper fruits, ordinary plastic film had the lowest nitrate content(244.06 mg?kg-1).Mulching treatment could significantly increase the pepper fruits length, but the difference was not significant among different mulch practices.Mulching could significantly increase the pepper yields than no-mulching,but the difference was not significant among different mulch practices.Degradable film and ordinary plastic film increase yield by 21.6% and 21.1% more than no-mulching.
