Due to the complexity of the hilly environment, there is few mechanical equipment usedfor our orchard picking and pruning job. Seasonal fruit picking is a labor intensive wok. Withthe aging of our population and the shrinking of rural labor force, efficient and versatilepicking technology with low cost is urgently needed in dangerous fruit picking, which is alsomonotonous and heavy. Therefore, it is significant for the fruit industry in China to develop aportable orchard picking machinery.Hanging operating platform for hilly orchards is developed with the research of theorchard operating machinery. Leveling mechanism is designed to achieve dynamic levelingof the table. It can be well adapted to the hilly. The specific research work is as follows:(1)With analysis of the orchards picking machinery used at home and abroad as wellas its trends, characteristics of picking technology and equipment are summarized. Hangingorchard operating platform on hills and mountains is designed according to our orchardplanting mode as well as gardening. It is hanged by the tractor and it is worked by foldingarm and hydrostatic leveling.(2)The key components which are analyzed and designed include the supportingmechanism, lifting mechanism, rotating mechanism, controlling mechanism and platform.Each hydraulic cylinder is checked to ensure the stability and safety of the work platform.(3)Design principles of the hydraulic control system and its component are discussed.Its functions and features are also analyzed in the paper.(4)Based on virtual prototype technology, hanging orchard operating platform on hillsand mountains is designed and virtually assembled by means of the three-dimensional designsoftware Pro/E. The three-dimensional model is simulated and analyzed by ADAMS andANSYS finite element analysis. We finally get the stress and displacement distribution.(5)Physical prototype is finally produced and tested. The performance test shows thatthe operating platform is relatively stable within a predetermined load and scope of work. The leveling mechanism works well, and the operating platform can well meet the actualrequirements.
