Trawling has been the primary field of energy consumption of marine fishing vesselsfor a long time, but its low utilization rate of energy highlights the high energyconsumption problems. Therefore, researches on trawler energy-saving technology areurgent to be needed. Few job was done on the researches of hydrodynamics performanceof the trawler interaction between trawler and propeller, even researches on matchingtechnology of and propeller have been a focus study in domestic and foreign.Hence,42m trawler was chosen as the study object. Research of matchingtechnology of hull and propeller was taken by using experimental investigation andnumerical method. The detailed researches were as follow:Firstly, commercial software Fluent was used to numerical forecasting thehydrodynamic performance of hull and ducted propeller respectively, and the results ofnumerical simulation showed a great agreement with experiment results. The result ofhull resistance, thrust and torque of ducted propeller will be used to analyze theperformance of hull-ducted interaction. Then, the trawler-ducted propeller interaction experiment was divided into four parts:similarity criterion of experiment, project designing of experiment, testing instrumentsand equipment as well as pilot process. Combining the results of resistance test, openwater experiment with hull-propeller interaction test, we tested the performance ofhull-ducted interaction, then, we got the dimensionless parameters such as wake fraction, thrust derating coefficient and propulsive efficiency. Finally, Fluent was used to numerical forecasting the hydrodynamic performance oftrawler and ducted propeller interaction. The result test had a great agreement withexperiment results. In addition, we analyze hull-ducted propeller interaction performancefrom other aspects like the wave profile on the hull, velocity profile on the propellerplane, pressure distribution at the stern, and streamline on the stern region.
