Bamboo defect detection is an important part of the selection of qualified bamboo.Current bamboo defect detection is still using the traditional manual inspection and it isquite inefficient. Considering the increasing cost of labor, it becomes a popular way thatmany manufacturers consider to introduce the machine vision inspection system or thelow-cost embedded machine vision inspection system. Machine vision inspection systemwith the advantage of non-contact, high speed, high precision and strong anti-jammingcapability can effectively overcome the lack of manual detection methods to improve theproduction of automation and productivity. Embedded devices have the advantage oflow-cost, portability, a high speed of information collection and processing and reasonableaccuracy, so the research and application of embedded machine vision technology willbecome the inevitable trend of future development of automation.The design has combine the embedded system and image processing technology, theMini2440development platform is designed to achieve the bamboo surface defectdetection, the use of a USB camera to capture images, and processes and analysis thecollected image to achieve the recognition of bamboo defects. Throughout the designprocess, we have completed the following step:First, this article analysis of the defect detection system based on bamboo surface ofthis topic and its embedded source future trends, an overview of the basic principles ofmachine vision inspection systems, introduced its applications, detailing the embeddedvision inspection system the basic principle, comparing it with machine vision inspectionsystem advantages and disadvantages, elaborated for embedded machine vision inspectionsystem reason.Second, building the environment of embedded hardware and software system,embedded cross-compiler environment to build custom embedded Linux, transplanting theembedded system.Third, describe the V4L capture images of processes to achieve a color imageacquisition and display based on Qt.Fourth, developing the bamboo embedded defect detection system with Qt Creator.Complementation image preprocessing and image segmentation, finished the detection ofbamboo defect, it improved the success rate of the whole system.
