Intergeneric and interspecific hybridization within chrysanthemum in broad sense is a way to innovate germplasm resources, to study phylogenetic relationships among genera and to offer foundations for researching in taxonomic status of species. This study focuses on cross experiments within Chrysanthemum, Ajania, Opisthopappus, Cancrinia, Brachanthemum and Nipponanthemum. It consists of43hybridized combinations, with465flora and34234tubular florets crossed and3953seeds harvested. After analysising on the morphological characteristics, chromosome numbers and ITS sequences, Ajania khartensis×Opisthopappus taihangensis, Cancrinia maximowiczii×(Chrysanthemum naktongense×Chrysanthemum×morifolium ’Aifen’), Chrysanthemum lavandulifolium×(Ajania achilloides x Opisthopappus taihangensis) were confirmed to be real hybrids. The results are as follows:Putative hybrids from Cancrinia maximowiczii×(Chrysanthemum naktongense×Chrysanthemum×morifolium ’Aifen’) are more similar to female parent on leaf shape, leaf color and ITS sequence information, while the distinct trait of the hybrids was found with7-13white tubular florets bursting out in the outer capitula. The materials may be derived from chromosomes elimination after hybridization, or epigenetic variation caused by hybridization stress, or multiple mutations caused by hybridization. It was proposed that Cancrinia maximowiczii might be transferred to the subtrible Artemisiinae based on ITS phylogenetic analysis though the positions of the species and the genus Cancrinia need to be studied further.Intergeneric hybrids of Ajania khartensis x Opisthopappus taihangensis were successfully produced as for the white tubular florets bursting out in the outer capitula and also supported by ITS phylogenetic analysis.Brachanthemum is theoretically close to Chrysanthemum. The hybridization may succeed. The facticity of hybrid from Chrysanthemum lavandulifolium×(Ajania achilloides×Opisthopappus taihangensis) was convinced authentically according to ITS phylogenetic analysis. Chrysanthemum, Ajania and oppisthopappus show a close relationship with each other and the hybridizations within them may easily succeed. This research achieved the germplasm innovation of Cancrinia and Chrysanthemum, Ajania and Opisthopappus. And for the first time we got ITS sequence information of Cancrinia maxcimowiczii and proposed its new position, that is attributed to Artemiseae.
