Objective:To evaluate the resistance of Helicobacter pylori to amoxicillin inFuzhou.Methods:48H.pylori-positive patents in the Fujian Provincial Hospital werecollected from November2012to January2013, and none of them receivedantibiotics for treatment in the past four weeks.48bacterial strains were completedamoxicillin E-test which were identified as H.pylori strains by colony morphology, urease reaction and catalase reaction. The H.pylori strains were consideredamoxicillin resistant with MIC≥1μg/ml.Results:H.pylori resistance to amoxicillin was found in only one case in all48strainswhich was isolated from a40-year-old chronic gastritis male patient.,with aprevalence rate of2.08%. And its MIC value was greater than256μg/ml. The rest ofthe strains were sensitive to amoxicillin with MIC values ranged from0.016μg/ml to0.25μg/ml.Conclusions:The resistance of H.pylori to amoxicillin is still at a low level inFuzhou, and may continue to act as a first-line drug for the H.pylori eradication.
