BackgroundLung cancer is one of the most common malignancies worldwide, recent studieshave suggested that Livin is highly expressed in lung cancer. It may be involved intumorigenesis and development of lung cancer.CXCR4is considered as the phenotypeof tumor cell, and is an essential factor in invasion and metastasis of tumor. In thisstudy,we used the westernblot to detect the expression of Livin protein and CXCR4protein in tissues of lung cancer, then observed relationship between expression ofLivin and CXCR4protein and biological characteristics in lung cancer, and thenreveals the positive association between Livin and CXCR4protein.Objective:The objective of the study is to study the expression of Livin protein and CXCR4protein in tissues of lung cancer and clinical significance, and to explore theirrelationships between Livin protein with CXCR4protein in lung cancer. Methods:Expression of Livin protein and CXCR4protein were detected by western blotassay in lung cancer tissues as well as in the control of para-cancerous tissue. Results:Livin is expressed in38of50lung cancer, significantly more than those inPara-cancerous tissue (6/20)(P<0.01);CXCR4is highly expressed in44of50lungcancer, significantly more than those in the control (10/20)(p<0.01). Moreover, therewas not significant defference between the expression of Livin and CXCR4withpatients’ sex, age, tumor size, histology types, differentiation, lymph node metastasis andclinical stage in lung cancer tissues(p>0.05);High Levels of Livin expression donot relate to chemotherapy(p>0.05).The levels of Livin protein in lung cancer weresignificantly higher than those in control by Gel Imaging System(p<0.01).Meanwhile,the levels of CXCR4protein in lung cancer were significantly higher thanthose in control(p<0.01).Relativity analysis of the expression of Livin and CXCR4showed the positive correlation(r=0.552, p<0.01).Conclusion:Livin is highly expressed in lung cancer as well as CXCR4. The levels of Livin arepositively associated with those of accordingly CXCR4,.suggesting that there may besynergistic effect on the development and progression of the lung carcinoma.
