Objective: To observe the intelligence structure of epileptic children and thefactors that affect it by means of C-WISC.Methods: The cognitive function of20epileptic children and20normal childrenwas evaluated by means of C-WISC,the basic information of cases collected. the resultwas analyzed statistically. Results: The epilepsy group and health group are similar in gender, age andrearing background (p>0.05),there were no significant differences between intellectualgrade distribution of epilepsy group and the health group (P>0.05),the same tointellectual grade distribution ratio of epilepsy group and the crowd theoreticaldistribution ratio (P>0.05), verbal IQ (VIQ), operating IQ (PIQ) and total IQ (FIQ) ofepilepsy group children were lower than the health group, there were significantdifferences (p<0.05), imbalance of children’s intelligence structure was no significantdifference between the epilepsy group and health group (p>0.05),the subtests of theintelligence test scores (except coding items) of the epilepsy group children weresignificantly lower than those of health group children, which had significant differences(p <0.05),the epilepsy group’s EEG had shown the correlation between brain area ofsignificant epileptic wave(spike wave)and subscale vulnerability of the site in thesubtests of the intelligence test (in contrast to average),including temporal region of thetop and the temporal area of significant epileptic wave(spike wave)in the epilepsygroup’s EEG,weakness of which concentrated in the mapping (72.7%,4.75±0.886).According univariate analysis, the FIQ of children with epilepsy is closely related to theonset of age, expected value, social withdrawal behavior (P <0.05).Conclusion:1. Mild cognitive impairment made no different betweem thegeneral children and children of the epilepsy.2.There was similar between theimbalance in the intellectual structure of Benign partial epilepsy children and health children, verbal IQ (VIQ)was better than operating IQ (PIQ).3. Level of intelligence anda variety of ability level of children with epilepsy were lower than those of healthchildren.4. The epilepsy Children’s EEG had shown the area of significant spikewave could affect the weakness of capabilities of children with epilepsy.5. The type ofepilepsy in children with epilepsy disease, onset age, onset frequency, the form of attack, attack duration and the effects of treatment of disease affect the cognitive function ofchildren, especially the incidence of age affecting closely.6.Level of education ofchildren with epilepsy, expectations, social with drawal behavior affect cognitivefunction in children, particularly the impact of the expectations, social withdrawalbehavior close.7. Regulation of the treatment of children with epilepsy, attention tosocial and psychological factors of epilepsy in children, with cognitive positive earlyintervention, early special education, early skills training, in order to improve thequality of life of children.8. Need to expand the sample size to explore the damage ofintellectual factors loaded in the Wechsler intelligence test subtests, to effectiveinterventions for children with different types of epilepsy.
