ObjectivesFetal growth restriction is a relatively common perinatal complications.As the improvement of medical technology,the survival rate of FGR continually improves. Obstetricians give children the chance of survival,we also focus on their long-term physical and mental development.Now it is widely recognized that because the growth and development of the fetus is a process that can not be completely separated by before birth and after birth,fetal growth restriction not only affects the development of the fetus and infant,but also affects the period of school-age and even adult development.It has been confirmed that FGR children with infantile period exist deficiencies in mental development,as well as the problem of hyperactivity,while the study of intelligence structure and attention for school-age children with FGR is also less.In this study,FGR children as research subjects,through intelligence,integrated visual and auditory continuous performance test and sensory integrative scale,we researched and analysised intelligence structure,attention and sensory integrative capability,in order to look for cognitive functional defects for early intervention to enable them to develop the physical and psychological health.MethodsSelect 77 school-age children from China Medical University Affiliated Shengjing Hospital development pediatrics for health examination from October 2006 to February 2009.Their birth weight are lower than its the 10th percent of average of the gestational age(weight criterion followed by the different birth weights for gestational age in 15 cities of China),except for children with chromosomal abnormalities,brain damage or mental retardation.They are 6 to 12 years age.Over the same period,select 100 normal children as control group whose age composition,sex ratio,family environment and parental level of education match the case group.Their birth weight are 11th to 89th percent of average of the gestational age.Children of all groups were measured intelligence by the application of C-WISC of Gong Yao-xian,Hunan Medical University,and integrated visual and auditory continuous performance test by the application of the United States Braintrain Company IVA-CPT test software.At the same time,parents filled out questionnaires and sensory integrative scale.Applegate SPSS 13.0 statistical software,compare the two groups using two independent T samples,and analysis of count data using chi-square test.Test:α=0.05 bilateral.Results1.The comparison of intellectual test results between FGR group and the control groupAt sub-tests,performance intelligence quotient and picture array and coding in performance scale of FGR group were lower than the control group(P<0.05),and there was a significant difference.The remaining and total IQ was no significant difference(P>0.05).At factor IQ,between the two groups in perceptual organization factor and memory/attention factor,there was a significant difference,while speech understanding factor was no significant difference.2.The comparison of IVA-CPT test results between the FGR group and control groupFGR group in the full scale attention quotient,auditory attention quotient,visual attention quotient,auditory vigilance quotient,visual vigilance quotient,visual speed quotient were lower than the control group,and there was a significant difference(P<0.05).The rest quotient had no significant difference(P>0.05).3.The comparison of the sensory integrative capability between FGR group and control groupIn the sensory integrative scale comparison,FGR group in the form of space and vision sensory disturbance factor,gravity unsafe disease factor,the stress-sensitive factor setbacks,the overall assessment of sensory function scores were significantly lower than the control group,and the difference has statistical significance(P<0.05). Conclusions1.The full intelligence quotient of FGR children is in the normal range,but the performance intelligence quotient was lower than normal children,which showed the intellectual structure development of FGR children is unbalanced.2.There is an existence of the damage to FGR children's attention.3.The rate of FGR children sensory integrative dysfunction is higher than normal children.
