Objective To analyze the clinical relevant factors causing recurrence and failure of laryngeal cancer after partial laryngectomy. Methods The clinical data of183patients of laryngeal cancer who underwent partial laryngectomy from January2005to July2009in our hospital were analyzed retrospectively.12selected factors might cause recurrence were analyzed by Chi-square test and Cox regression.3year cumulative overall survival rate and5year expected survival rate were analyzed by Kaplan-Meier Method. Results The3year cumulative overall survival rate and5year expected survival rate were83.1%and71.8%respectively in this research. T Stage, pathological grades, drinking and smoking condition, these7factors were all statistically significant in their association with recurrence after partial laryngectomy. In multivariate analysis adjuvant radiotherapy, surgical margins, N stage and drinking condition were the main factors affecting the prognosis of patients with partial laryngectomy, and they all were risk factors. Conclusions The multidisciplinary treatment model of laryngeal cancer is based on operation, along with adjuvant radiotherapy for those in advanced stage.
