Purpose Observe to the inhibition of kallikrein-binding protein (KBP) on corneal neovascularization in SD rats after corneal suturedMethod57SD rats were randomly divided into4experimental groups, that is Blank group (3rats), KBP group (18rats), PBS group (18rats), suture group (18rats). Right eyes were used as experimental eyes, Using a suture method to establish the model of corneal neovascularization. The first day after operation, The KBP group rats were injected KBP solution (for8mg/ml, volume0.1ml) undersubconjunctival. The7th day after operation, excised3eyes to made paraffin sections parallel、 hematoxylin-eosin staining and immunohistochemistry examination, found out the degree of expression of vascular endothelial growth factor. On the same day, injected KBP solution in the rest16eyes with the same method and dosage. On fourteenth day and twelfth day after the operation, excised6eyes of esch group, submitted for censorship. PBS group rats were injected PBS solution (for volume0.1ml) undersubconjunctival.Nothing were injected for PBS group and Blank group. Eyes of each group were excised exactly at the same time and quantity. During the experiment, all the eyes were observed under the slit lamp microscope ereryday and took photograph and measured the area and length of corneal neovascularization by a angle gauge. Results On the second day after modeling, Each group can be observed neovascularization growing in corneal since the cornea limbal vascular net. On fourth days, angiogenesis growed perpendicular in the direction along the suture of corneal limbus. On seventh days. the growth of new blood vessels is in the most exuberant situation, some of them over past suture position, dense distributed and reciprocal chiasmata. On Fourteenth days new blood vessels began to reduce. The growing cycle of KBP group is similar with the rest of the groups. But the area and length of CNV are smaller than other group at each time point. From the10th day, there is statistical significance between KBP group and the other three groups. Immunohistochemical examination for comparison of VEGF cumulative absorbance (A value) shows that on1W,2W after suture, no statistically significant difference in each group. On3W, A values had significant between KBP group PBS group. Conclusion Subconjunctival injection of kallikrein-binding protein can effectively inhibit corneal neovascularization...
