Objective:To study the effect of transcatheter hepatic arterial chemo-embolization (TACE) combined with high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to hepatocarcinoma. The research of TACE combined with HIFU for liver cancer may provide certain theoretical basis.Methods:20liver cancer patients treated with TACE combined with HIFU were studied retrospectively and their clinical symptoms, liver function (AST, ALT), a tire protein (AFP) and immune index (CD3+T and CD8+T, NK) changes were observed after operation. CT or MRI scan plus enhanced scan were applied to check necrosis of the tumors, and according to the modified RECIST criteria their effectiveness were determined. These patients were devided into two groups:cases of primary liver cancers and cases of liver metastases, during a follow-up of1year, survival rate were observed for3months,6months,12months.Results:Before operation17cases suffered from clinical symptoms such as anorexia, liver area unwell, pain and weight loss, and after operation15patients’ symptoms improved. Their appetite were increased, liver area pain relieved or disappeared, and their weight gained. The increased AST and ALT-2days after the surgery, compared with the preoperative the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05).4week after operation AST and ALT were checked, compared with preoperative, which had no statistical significance (P>0.05). postoperative AFP level obviously decreased compared with the level in4weeks preoperatively, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Compared with the preoperative value, CD3+ T and NK were increased significantly, CD8+T obviously decreased, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). According to RECIST criteria to evaluate curative effect, the tumors decreased rate of primary liver cancer group and liver metastases group were84.62,57.14%respectively. The survival rates of primary liver cancer group and liver metastases group at3months,6months,12months after surgery were100.00%,92.31%,76.92%and100.00%,85.71%,57.14%respectively.Conclusion:The therapeutic effects TACE combined with HIFU of liver cancer show better results. The large sample multi-centre randomized controlled research is the best method of re-evaluation of the effectiveness of the treatment method.
