Objective:By intrathoracic injection with recombinant human interleukin-2(rIL-2) andbleomycin treating malignant pleural effusion, we observed the change of pulmonaryfunction and PaO2before and after the treatment, and discussed two drug effects onpulmonary function, Provided reference for clinical safe drug use. Methods:Weselected60patients with malignant pleural effusion diagnosed by cellpathology, exhausted the pleural effusion with the single cavity central vein catheter.Patients were divided into two groups, IL-2single drug group (group A) and the BLMsingle-drug group (group B), via the catheter injecting into the chest. Results:Vitalcapacity (VC), Maximum Ventilatory Volume (MVV), forced expiratory volume in1second (FEV1) increased after the terament in group A, increased by13.76%,13.76%,8.63%, the difference had statistical significance (P<0.05). FVC ratio was slightlylower, falling4.66%, the difference had no statistical significance (P>0.05).Thepercentage of forced expiratory volume in1second accounting for forced vital capacitypercentage (FEV1/FVC) reduced, fell by15.59%, the difference was statisticallysignificant (P<0.05).Peak expiratory flow(PEF) index slightly increased, the growthrate was0.52%, the difference was not significant (P>0.05). Arterial blood oxygenpartial pressure (PaO2) elevated, increased by4.89%, the difference was statisticallysignificant (P<0.05).The index of VC and FEV1decreased after treatment in group B,fell by12.80%,11.51%, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The indexof FVC and MVV fell, the decline of3.07%,8.70%, difference was no statisticalsignificance (P>0.05). FEV1/FVC ratio was slightly lower, the drop was only0.87%,no statistical significance. PEF index fell, the decline of3.58%, with no statistical significance (P>0.05). PaO2fell with the decline of2.91%, the difference comparingwas no statistical significance (P>0.05).Conclusion: we observed the change ofpulmonary function and PaO2before and after the intrathoracic injection drugs treatingmalignant pleural effusion in group A and group B, showed that intrathoracic injectionwith IL-2treating patients with malignant pleural effusion was not aggravated recentlyrestrictive lung function obstacle, had no negative effect on recent lung function, controlled the pleural effusion, improved the restrictive ventilatory dysfunction, increased the PaO2. The index of pulmonary ventilation function and lung capacitywere decreased after the treatment in group B, suggested that intrathoracic injectionwith BLM treating malignant pleural effusion had a certain degree of adverse effects onlung function.
