Objective:To investigate the influence of histological prostatitis on clinicalcharacteristics of benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer and its clinicalsignificance. Methods:From Jan2010to Aug2012,369cases diagnosed with BPH andPCa were studied retrospectively. Several items including age, volume of prostate, totalprostatic special antigen(tPSA), prostatic special antigen density(PSAD), maximumflow rate(MFR) and acute urinary retention(AUR) were analyzed.Results:Among273BPH patients,186cases were diagnosed as BPH with HP(68.13%); Among96PCapatients,18cases were diagnosed as PCa with HP(18.75%);There was statistical differencebetween the two groups in the incidence of HP (P<0.05). Compared with the BPH group,tPSA,PSAD,the volume of total prostate in BPH with HP group were lager (P<0.05),MFR was decreased(P<0.05) and the risk of AUR was increased(P<0.05). However, therewas no significant difference in patients’ age between the two groups(P>0.05).Andcompared with the PCa group, tPSA and PSAD were lager in PCa with HPgroup(P<0.05);No significant difference was found in the other indexes between the twogroups(P>0.05).Conclusion:HP may play a certain role in the progenesis and progressionof HP and PCa,but HP more often contributes to patients with BPH than with ACP.
