Objective To investigate the serum level of Matrix Metalloproteinase-1(MMP-1)、Matrix Metalloproteinases-3(MMP-3) and Matrix Metalloproteinases Inhibitor-1(TIMP-1) in children with Henoch-Schonlein Purpura and its clinical significance.Method Utilizing Enzyme-Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay(ELISA) to detect theserum level of MMP-1、MMP-3and TIMP-1in40cases of children with HSP inacute phase and convalescence and26cases of healthy children (control group).Results①The serum levels of MMP-1、MMP-3and TIMP-1in children with HSP inacute phase, convalescence and the control group respectively were62.21±10.20ng/mL、32.79±2.06ng/mL and29.12±2.61ng/ml,1158.0±222.7ng/ml、653.0±28.11ng/mL and575.3±37.21ng/ml,1880.0±304.3ng/ml、950.2±44.69ng/ml and806.4±77.29ng/mL;The differences between acute phase and convalescence were allsignificant (p<0.05); Compared with the control group, the acute phase group showedall significant difference with statistical significance (P <0.05, P <0.05, P <0.01);There were no statistically significant differences between convalescence and controlgroup (P>0.05).②The serum levels of MMP-1、MMP-3and TIMP-1in the childrenin acute phase were positive correlation with activity of HSP; and the correlationcoefficient respectively were0.512,0.257,0.501(P <0.01).③The serum levels ofMMP-1、MMP-3and TIMP-1in the children with HSP in acute phase with kidney injury and with no kidney injury respectively were118.6±31.76ng/ml and41.46±1.875ng/ml(P<0.001),2013±773.3ng/ml and833.6±23.92ng/ml(P<0.05),3400±972.1ng/ml and1359±92.53ng/(P<0.05), There were significant differencesbetween them④The serum levels of MMP-1、MMP-3in the children with HSP inacute phase with kidney injury showed positive correlation with24hours urineprotein levels;and the correlation coefficient respectively were0.643,0.470(P<0.05).Conclusions MMP-1、MMP-3and TIMP-1may be used as early activity index inchildren with HSP. the serum level of MMP-1and MMP-3may reflect the severity ofkidney injury in children with Henoch Schonlein Purpura Nephritis (HSPN). MMP-1and TIMP-1with allergic purpura activity, was consistent. Detecting the serum levelof MMP-1, MMP-3and TIMP-1in children with HSP to determine itscondition, prognosis and guide therapy has certain clinical significance in determiningpatient’s condition, prognosis and guiding therapy.
