Objective:To evaluate the role of CD4+CD25+Tregs in pathology of adenomyosis byexploring the expression of transcription factor Foxp3.Design:Case control studyMethods:In this study data we collected inpatients data between July2011and June2012at the Affiliated Hospital of Ningbo University. Thirty cases who were diagnosed asadenomyosis by pathological examination were selected as study group(including eutopic endometrium and ectopic endometrium), and another thirty cases with myoma of uterus afterlaparoscopic surgery were selected as control group, The expression of Foxp3or CD4CD25in eutopic endometrium and ectopic endometrium of both groups by using immunohistochemistry. Results:The positive expression of Foxp3in eutopic tissue is13cases and positiveexpression of Foxp3in ectopic endometrium of is8cases in30cases of adenomyosis. Theexpression of Foxp3was significantly higher than that of control group(P<0.01). However,no significant difference was found between the eutopic and ectopic endometrium themselves. Thepositive expression of Foxp3was not related to the menstruation phase, the size of the uterus, the menstrual changes. The expression of CD4CD25in eutopic and ectopic endometrium wassignificantly higher than that of control group(P<0.01). The positive expression ofCD4CD25was correlated with the expression of Foxp3in eutopic endometrium and ectopicendometrium. Conclusion:The present finding showed that the population and function of CD4+CD25+Tregs in adenomyosis was up-regulated obviously. The data suggested that CD4+CD25+Tregs may play an important role in the pathology of adenomyosis, and. an immune tolerance circumstance in the uterus of adenomyosis may allows the ectopic endometrium to survive and grow.
