With the human environment and the way of life changing, the atherosclerosis-basedcardiovascular has been identified as "the number one killer" which is harmful to humanhealth by the World Health Organization. Among them, hyperlipidemia atherosclerosis is animportant risk factor. Salvia, the dry root and rhizome of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge, which iscommonly used as traditional Chinese medicinal material, is the herbal medicine of the heartcerebral paroxysm. For its exact effect on the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebro-vascular diseases, Salvia has become the Chinese medicine which owns the largest amount, the largest production and the highest sale.In this paper, by the drug delivery method of intraperitoneal injection, Salvianolate acidB, one of the main active compounds in Danshen, was studied about the effect onatherosclerosis. First, sixty SD rats were selected, and the atherosclerosis model wasestablished. Second, the intraperitoneal injection was used to interference the experiment.During the experiment, the blood samples and faeces of the rats were routinely collected, thenthe enzymic method was used to detected the blood total cholesterol, the phosphotungstic acid-magnesium precipitation was used to detected the blood levels of high density lipoprotein, the acid extraction method was used to detected the fat content of the rat feces, GC was usedto detected the TC content of the rat feces, and the phosphomolybdate colorimetric was usedto detected the bile acid content of the rat feces. The experimental results indicate that:(1) the blood TC/HDL content of the drugintervention group was significantly lower than the atherosclerosis model group (P<0.05), theSalvianolic acid B intervention group compared with the simvastain group had no significantdifference (P>0.05).(2) the content of fecal fat, the content of fecal TC and the content offecal bile acid of the drug intervention group were significantly higher than the atherosclerosisgroup (P<0.05), and the cholesterol excrerol rate of increase of the Salvianolic acid Bintervention group was significantly higer than the simvastain group (P<0.05). But the bileacid excrerol rate of increase of the Salvianolic acid B intervention group was significantlylower than the simvastain group (P<0.05). The above experimental results can draw following conclusions: the experimental results indicate that salvianolic acid B and simvastatin caninhabit atherosclerosis and its related diseases by reducing the blood levels of blood lipid andhs-CRP; salvianolic acid B and simvastatin can reduce the blood total cholesterol byincreasing the excretion of fecal cholesterol and bile acid, but there are some differences inthe way of reducing the blood total cholesterol.
