Objective This study evaluates mental disturbance in thioacetamide (TAA)-induced acute hepatic encephalopathy (AHE) in mice as an animal model. Methods Animal models of hepatic encephalopathy in kunming mice according to the dose of the TAA administered (200mg/kg of TAA at24h intervals for3days).A control group was treated with saline solution at the same time.Behavioral symptoms were evaluated on day4.Results TAA-induced acute hepatic encephalopathy in mice has anxiety-like behavior in the light/dark box, Open field and elevated plus maze. While the total distance movement in Open field showed no significant differences in two groups. Conclusion The brain dysfunction of AHE with anxiety can be evaluated by animal behavior test, however, the anxiety isn’t associated with less motor activities.
