Objective To investigate the large effective ways and means for aged male rats of late-onset hypogonadism by selectively modulate androgen receptor.Method A total of30aged male rats were selected as LOH model and randomly divided into3groups:control group(A), DHTgroup(B), Sarm group(C). Each group were treated with subcutaneous injection of blank solvent, Dihydrotestostemne (DHT)and Sarm during the next4weeks. After4weeks,we observed and scored the LOH symptoms of every rats, detect the levels of serum free testosterone, and calculate the prostatic index. Results The scores of LOH symptom were18.20±1.87,30.00±2.49,35.20±1.87, and serum free testosterone were2.248±0.305,1.088±0.258,2.526±0.283pg/mL,and the time of forced swimming were16.33±1.16,24.50±1.26,30.43±0.71min, and the time of tail suspension test were196.17±10.57,167.29±2.15,160.67±6.92s, and prostate index were0.321±0.008,0.419±0.015,0.172±0.007%,the difference between every two groups was statistically significant (P<0.01).Conclusion By its high affinity and selectivity to adjust androgen receptor expression, Sarm can obviously improve the symptoms of LOH model rat and restrain the hyperplasia of prostate tissue, however,it does not affect the secretion of testosterone.
