| Objectives: the aim of this study was to investigate dynamic change trend of sex hormones and to explore its influences factors and application on late-onset hypogonadism.Methods: 282 Medium-elderly man ranged in age above 40 yeas old were investigated at the Health Promotion Center of Jiangsu Province Hospital,including Androgen Deficiency in Aging Male Symptoms questionnaire(AMS)and Aging Male questionnaire(ADAM),and measured the sex-hormone-related factors,Testosterone(T),Sex Hormone Binding Globulin(SHBG),free testosterone calculated by Vemeulen formula(Calculated Free Testosterone cFT)and bioavailable testosterone(Bio-T),in the blood simultaneously to analyzed the trends with age and influencing factors.we explore diagnostic criteria of LOH.Results: 282 Medium-elderly man ranged in age from 40 to80,with an average serum testosterone of 14.47±5.51 nmol/L,SHBG of 43.70±20.51 noml/L.serum SHBG increased gradually with age and were positively correlated with age.A total of 282 questionnaires were collected.The positive rate was 83.3% in the ADAM questionnaire and 71.3 % in the AMS questionnaire.Total testosterone was not associated with age,but calculated free Testosterone(cFT)was correlated with age negatively.There was significant different in cFT between the AMS positive group and negative group.Conclusion: Serum total testosterone do not necessarily decrease with the growth of age in the medium-elderly men.The calculated free testosterone was more suitable for the diagnosis of LOH than the total testosterone. |
