The systemical research was made on asthma through three parts of theory inquiry, clinical observation and animal experiment,In the first part, the literature related to asthma in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the recognition of asthmatic etiology and pathogenesis were overviewed, generalized and summarized. For present worse situation of asthma, we emphasized the pathogenesis of breeze-phlegm coexisting, recommended the therapeutic rules of eliminating breeze and removing phlegm. In the second part, the clinical effects of Qufengxuanbizhijingfa were observed and its mechanism was explored. 50asthmatic patients in moderate acute phase were randomly divided into two groups:25 patients were treated with Qufengxuanbizhijing- foumulae as the treatment group, and 25 patients were theated with pumike and chuankansu as the control group. The improvements of main symptoms and signs of all patients were ovserved. The results showed the comprehensive therapeutic effect of the treatment group was better than that of the control group. The clinical research proves that Qufengxuanbi- foumulae is effective complex prescription for asthma, which is valuable for further reasearch and utilizing. In the third part, by means of modern experimental method, observe the Qufengxuanbi- foumulae regulate the ET-1 and ICAM-1 on bronchus asthmas. The asthmatic models of guinea pigs were established by ovalbumin sensitization were randomized five groups. The results showed Qufengxuanbi- foumulae could obviously reduce the ET-1, ICAM-1 and AT-Ⅱ. there was no significant difference between Qufengxuanbi- foumulae group and Dexamethasone group(P>0.05). So it is concluded that the main mechanism of regulating immunity of Qufengxuanbi- foumulae lies in by reducing the level of ET-1 ,ICAM-1 and AT-Ⅱ.
