Liang Shiqiu is one of most outstanding persons of Chinese New CulturalMovement in first half of20thcentury. He bridges Taiwan and mainland, connects theculture of East and West, links the tradition and advanced, achieving great in themany aspects, such as the prose writing, literary translation, dictionary adaption andacademic research. As a great translator, his translation works is overwhelming,especially, his translation of The Complete Works of Shakespeare. And during hislong-term translation period, he formed his unique translation perspective-----thetranslation perspective of Zhongyong.His translation activity was greatly impacted by his art thought which closelyrelated his life philosophy. As one of representatives of Chinese modern liberalism,Liang strictly sticks to the mid-way path, there are a lot of coincidences in his worldview and Aristotle of ancient Greece, Plato and Confucius in China, Namely, pursuingthe balance between the spirit and material through the moderation restraint in the twoextremes of naturalism’s indulging in desire and the religion’s eradication of it, so asto achieve the harmony-----the appropriate state of Zhongyong. The core of thoughtdemonstrates in his art thought is faith in stability and sound in mind and body, theconservative traditional classism, and he thinks that the literature should reflect theuniversal and eternal humane, and emphasize on controlling desire through reason,show respect to the discipline of elegancy, Zhonghe and appropriateness, focuses onthe theory of genius, and recommends the seriousness and independence of literature.naturally, his pursuing the life philosophy affected his translation perspective: a, onattitude, the translator should be strict and responsible, concern the moral of study; b,about translated text, the translator should be prude and cautious, translating theworks reflect the eternal humane; c, in the aspect of purpose, the translator should payattention to the transmission of culture, and reveals its multiple feature of translationliterature;d, to strategy, the translator should weigh the principle of appropriateness,be proper and decent as much as possible; e, when it comes to translation aesthetics,the translator should show its elegancy and peace and low. It can easily be seen that the translation is not a simple conversion activity but a complicated activity fulfilledby translator’s art thought and life experience. Besides, he attaches importance tomanifest special features in the aspects such as the transmission of culturalconnotation, the input of literature form and the reappearance of the language style inhis translation practice, his translation is the evidence of his obeying the rule of theunity of the sincerity, the benevolence and the aesthetics in terms of his dialoguetheory in his lines.Chapter one mainly introduces Liang Shiqiu’s life, his translation situation and themain point of view, research purpose, research method and research significance.Chapter two briefly introduces the characteristics of these on the translationperspective of Zhongyong.In the third chapter the author presents the background for the formation ofZhongyong perspective on translation, mainly from two aspects: his life philosophyand his art thought is discussed, finally talk about the main effect on his translationperspective.In the fourth chapter mainly from the doctrine of the mean thought to LiangShiqiu’s performance on the doctrine of the mean translation theory: mainly have twoaspects: of theoretical basis part and theoretical core part.In chapter five mainly talks about translation perspective in Liang Shiqiu practice.The thesis analyzes from the perspective of Zhongyong of Liang Shiqiu’stranslation, proves its translation presents the characteristics of the doctrine of themean, therefore named after the translation perspective of Zhongyong.
