Crime and cracking a criminal case are inevitable social problems in any civilizedcountry, just because of that, compared with other types of drama, drama with respect tocrime have great relevance with society, it can satisfy the audience’s great curiosity anddesire to experience with circuitous development on plots and gripping visualimpact,and therefore be well received by the audience.With the rapid development and perfection of network technology, cross-culturalexchanges represented by drama culture have become increasingly frequent. Afterentering the21st century, the American crime drama began to enter the TV market inmainland China via the Internet. With its unique narrative features and style, Americancrime drama is loved by more and more audience, resulting in a number of Americancrime dram fans, even other types of American drama in China also well spread.However, The Chinese Police drama fell into a bottleneck after experiencingunprecedented prosperity of the1990s, it becomes very necessary to find and solve theexisting problems of The Chinese police drama by a comparative study of the same typeof dramas between China and the United States.For the first time, this paper selects the Chinese police drama and American crimedrama from the areas of drama as a separate case to have a comparative study. Thewhole paper is divided into six parts: The first part is the introduction for clarifyingresearch ideas and innovations purpose. The second part is to sort out the developmentof the same type of dram in different countries in order to have a clear understanding ofthe research object. The key parts of this paper focus on the third, fourth, and fifth parts.The third part has a detailed analysis of different cultures kernel between two countries,Collective standard view and individual standard view, Patriarchal ethics and rationalscience built a distinct cultural background for the Chinese police drama and Americancrime drama. Combined with the case of this paper. The fourth Part compares betweenthe contents of plot structure, character set, the image narrative strategy in theStructuralism narrative principle. The fifth Chapter tries to find out the existingproblems of police dram in China and gives some advice. Based on previous studies, theauthor explores what the Chinese police drama should learn from American crimedrama, and point out that we should conjunct with the our unique cultural and socialcharacteristics, adhere to the correct aesthetic concepts, establish consciousness for the best and implement quality strategy, moreover, we should strive to offer more workswith a unity of multi-ideology, artistry, aesthetic and entertainment. The sixth part is thesummary of the whole paper.
