Analysis Of The Causes Of Refugee Problem In Shan Xi Of Ming Dynasty And The Measures Taken By The Goverment

In traditional Chinese feudal society that founded on agriculture, the question of refugee has always been a major social problem which plagued the rulers. Refugee problem is the power that affects social stability and impacts the rule of the feudal regime. In the Ming Dynasty, the serious problem of refugee has also been plagued by the Ming rulers, at the last Ming Dynasty was burial by one after another peasant uprising. Then on a national scale, the northern provinces had the most refugee, Shanxi is one of the most prominent provinces in that time. So Shanxi refugee problem as a case to analysis of its causes and the measures taken by the government has the typical sense, also helps to promote the in-depth study of refugee problems in the Ming Dynasty.The paper is divided into three parts:The first part is the cause of the problem of the Shanxi refugee in the Ming Dynasty. The part is the focus of this paper, and it comprehensive, systematic and detailed analysis the causes of Shanxi refugee problem in the Ming Dynasty mainly from Shanxi Province frequent and serious natural disasters, the heavy burden of taxes and corree, sharp land contradictions.The second part isthe policy taken by the government to deal with the question of refugee. The part discusses countermeasures taken by the government after appearance of refugee problem, from collect grain against natural disasters, relieve and free tax, pacify back to the origin and settle down in that place.The third part is the conclusion. From the above analysis, it illustrates the limitations of the countermeasures taken by the Ming rulers to deal with the question of refugee problem, points out the inevitability of feudal society appearance and development.
