| "Mei" is a word used frequently in modern Chinese, and it is often used to express every member in the set together with quantitative phrase. The adverb "Dou" is a common used word in modern Chinese, and it is a word that represent universal quantification in the meaning of scope and it usually universally quantifies the nominal composition. The "Mei... Dou" structure is also used frequently in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. In the sentence, both the word "Mei" and "Dou" represent universal quantification. But I found that "Dou", in this sentence, does not always appear. Therefore, this paper analyses when "Dou" can not appear in the structure "Mei... Dou", when can disappear, when must appear.Based on The American National Corpus and Peking University in modern Chinese Corpus, first of all, I summarize the conditions of three kinds of situations, and then analyze the reasons from the quantitative need of "Mei", the semantic point of "Dou" and the semantic aspects of the predicate verbs. This thesis is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction of the paper. It mainly introduces the contents, the significances, current situation and the study methods of this paper. In the second chapter, I first summarize the situation of "Dou" can not be appear when "Mei" is in the sentence, then analyze the reasons. Through the investigation of numerous corpus, I conclude that "Dou" can not be appear when the numeral is not "one" in the structure of "Mei+numeral+classifier+noun", and when the quantity phrase used directly as predicate. Then I think the reason "Dou" can not be appear is the uncertainty of "Mei+numeral+classifier+noun" and the syntax nature of the quantity phrases. The third chapter summarize the situation when "Dou" can disappear in the structure of "Mei... Dou "and analyze the reasons. I summarize the situation "Dou" can disappear include the quantity phrase appears after predicate, the structure of "Mei using as adverbial in the, sentence, other adverbial appearing in the sentence, the appear of pause and the predicate which present the "different" meaning. The "Dou" can disappear, on one hand, it is in order to satisfy the demand of quantification of "Mei", on the other hand it is also influenced by the barrier of other components and the semantic of the verb. The fourth chapter focus on when "Dou" must appear in the structure of "Mei Dou". The key factor of whether "Dou" can appear in the structure of "Mei... Dou" whether there is a variable in the sentence that can satisfy the quantitative need of "Mei".The fifth chapter is the conclusive part. â… summarize the whole article, and then draw a conclusion. |
