Culture Finishing Activities And The Literary Function Evolution Of Jian’an Literati

Jian’an period, was known as the "consciousness" and "awakening" period in ancient Chinese literature history. Jian’an Literature,no matter what is poetry, prose or article is given a great deal of progress, which have also been fully studied in academia. Therefore, this paper aims to study Jian’an Literature from the perspective of culture finishing activities and the evolution of literary function. This paper includes three parts.The first part is the research on culture finishing activities of Jian’an literati, including the following three aspects:First, the culture finishing activities before Jian’an literati, mainly including the annotations of the five versions of the pre-Qin ancient work "Spring and Autumn","ErYa","Warring "," Han Feizi " and so on. The main representatives of these culture finishing activities are Confucius and Liu Xiang. Second, the culture finishing activities of Jian’an literati mainly include the arrangements of individual collections and anthology, the compiling of encyclopedia as well as the annotations to the previous works, such as Cao Cao’s A Brief Account of Sun Zi, Liu Zhen’s Mao Shi Yi asked, Cao Zhi’s prose adding to Recorded Before; Cao Pi’s collection of the last writings of Jian’an Seven; the encyclopedia Huang Lan complied by Cao Pi. Third, the reasons that Jian’an Scholars engaged to culture finishing activities are serving politics, expressing deep condolences to their deceased friends, or providing convenience to themselves and others for easy learning and using or disseminating Confucianism and implementing Confucianism enlightment.The second part is the characteristics of the Jian’an Literati culture finishing activities and the impact of the literary function evolution. First of all, the Jian’an literati culture finishing activities referred to all aspects of Confucian classics, history, philosophy and belles-letters, which has great inheritance and innovation in the aspects of compilers, compilation, the number and size of compilation over the previous works. Secondly, by reading and analysis of literary works of Jian’an Scholars, we come to the concrete manifestation of the Jian’an literati culture collate results of the activities in their literary creations, the understanding of culture essential characteristics and value during Jan’an culture finishing activities, and the specific impact on the evolution of literary functions and performance. The third part is the impact of the literary function evolution on the finishing activities of Jian’an literati. First of all, the literary functions manifested by Jian’an literati culture finishing activities underwent the development from literature serving politics to literature serving politics and aesthetics, and then to literature serving lyrics and aesthetics. Second, by finishing Seven Corpus, Cao Pi proposed some literary concepts such as "Elegance seeking in poetry","Wen Qi", and "articles immortal" in his Code on the Paper, and established three literary functions:Being Virtuous, Winning Honor and Glory, Writing Books and Setting up a Theory; Cao Zhi fulfilled the literature natural value function so as to promote the diversification of the literary functions. The development and evolution of literary function regulates and guides literary creation activities of scholars, and meanwhile impels the Jian’an literati to conduct culture finishing activities effectively.
