Most ChaoZhou people migrated to Vietnam by boats, and on the floating journey, it was hard for them to avoid facing the dangers as strong winds and big waves. At that moment, their only hope was the Goddess Thien Hau of the ocean, who could protect them from such dangers. After arriving safely in the new land and getting settled, they also had to encounter many other difficulties. Therefore, Thien Hau Goddess Temples were built up wherever they lived to pay their homage to the Goddess and receive a peaceful life from her blessings in this strange new land. We can say that, the Thien Hau Goddess belief is one of the indispensable ones in the spiritual life of the ChaoZhou people in Ho Chi Minh city. This research aims to locate this belief in their spiritual life as well as its influences on traditional culture and literature.
