The traditional summative assessment is the main test method in Integrated Skillsof English teaching. This method has some negative efforts. The appearance of processevaluation makes up the shortage of summative assessment and it is a new evaluationmethod for the teachers to evaluate the teaching and learning result more systematicallyand accurately. The process evaluation, which emphasizes that teachers should evaluatestudents from multiple aspects, is the result of the development of the instructionevaluation theories and is based on Multiple Intelligences and the ConstructivismTheory.This essay mainly studys the application of process evaluation in the teaching ofIntegrated Skills of English and introduces the historical development and someconceptions and characteristics of process evaluation. Combined with the practicalcondition of the writer’s workplace and the English curriculum reform, the writerimplements process evaluation in Integrated Skills of English and finds the advantagesand disadvantages of it. In the end, the writer gives some advice in how toimplementing it. She hopes that the combination of process evaluation and theIntegrated Skills of English will achieve better teaching results and efforts.
